Rockers Maroon 5 have scrapped another concert on their North American tour as frontman Adam Levine prepares to become a first-time father.
The Sugar singer’s wife, model Behati Prinsloo, is due to give birth on Tuesday (20Sep16), a day after Adam and his bandmates were set to perform in Hartford, Connecticut, and as a result, the group has pulled Monday’s (19Sep16) show as a precaution.
The stars announced the news on their Facebook page on Friday (16Sep16).
“Maroon 5 have announced that their upcoming show at the XL Center in Hartford, CT this Monday, September 19th will unfortunately be canceled,” read the statement.
“Maroon’s 5 show in Hartford was happening in conjunction with the group’s Fall 2016 U.S. tour and is being canceled due to the upcoming birth of frontman Adam Levine’s baby.”
The band’s representative then assured fans no other concert dates would be affected, after having already postponed seven shows originally scheduled for late September (16). Those gigs will now take place in February and March next year (17).
“Sadly, it’s par for the course with having a baby soon,” Adam explained in a video posted on Instagram earlier this month (Sep16). “It’s life, and it’s beautiful, but it can be complicated, and I apologise for any inconvenience.”
“We hope you guys can go to the shows, they’ll be just as great,” Adam reassured fans. “We love you, and we’re sorry.”
Maroon 5’s final performance before Adam’s fatherhood break will now be in Worcester, Massachusetts on Saturday (17Sep16). The band will resume its tour duties on 3 October (16) in St Louis, Missouri.
