Interview Feature with Chris Bianchi (Artist Manager, Entrepreneur)

1. How did you get started in the entertainment business?

I’ve loved music and performing my entire life. As long as I can remember, singing, playing drums, and building events has been something that stood out to me as such a fun experience. After playing in local bands, my group got a record deal. We were on MTV and worked our way around the USA/Canada and cut our teeth the old-fashioned way on the road. That is how I learned the business. Lots of hands-on trial and error!

2. What are some challenges you face on a daily basis?

Every single day brings something different. One day we might have a hit song go to number 1 on the itunes chart, the next we have a tour bus that’s on fire from a bad generator. That’s part of what I truly love about this business is everyday brings something new. If you can think it- we’ve probably seen it.

3. Do you believe your environment can affect what you can achieve?

Absolutely. If you surround yourself with negative people or terrible situations, its bound to catch up with you mentally and physically. You have to find a way or place that works for you to feel clear headed, positive and continue to be inspired or it really just does not help you and that leads to not being able to help others. I do not think however, it means you need to go move to some “big city” just to make it in the business either.

4. Any advice for someone who wants to work in the entertainment business?

Be prepared for a never-ending wild ride. Buckle up and hang on tight. There is always something new to discover and things to explore. You must stay committed to your goals at hand and pay attention to your surroundings. Make friends when possible.

5. How do you balance work and home life?

My family is the most important thing in my entire life. It took me a while to understand how to balance that and I’m still working on it every single day. Often times the entertainment business is cruel and demanding of your time. It comes down to knowing your values and staying strong even with certain times or clients who might not always respect that. I try to use my free hours to catch up on work or personal things and home hours strictly focused on family.
