David Tv Barnes – Lost Time – Review

Before I started to review this song I had high expectations. I review a lot of music from different genre’s but R&B holds a special place in my heart. So, whenever I get an R&B submission, my interest is already piqued. When I started the song I loved how it introduced the beginning chords followed by a prominent snare. It immediately set the tempo for something smooth, calming, and relaxing to listen to.

The alto sax gave it a nice touch. It replaced the singing for me and took the song to another level. Once, what I presume is, the chorus started it then added yet another element of percussion by incorporating what I take are trumpets. Once the second verse starts little syncopated spurts of horns can be heard. Additionally, the alto sax is still prominent but there are little bits of either another alto sax or tenor sax doing the ad-libs in the back. The way that the song ended made me want more.

I would be really interested to see what this song would sound like with vocals but I think that the sax and the vocals would be in competition. Ultimately, I did not miss the vocals. This artist has a knack for bringing you into his world, if only for a moment, and surrounding you with an euphoric bliss as you ride the melody off into the sunset. That’s the best way to describe it. I felt so relaxed after listening to this song. If you like R&B, sultry saxophone solos, and catchy rhythms then you should listen to this artist. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
